This Ceremonial Matcha Tea is sourced from the Matsushita Tea Garden in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka, Japan, a region known for producing some of the country’s most respected green teas. Harvested in spring from a blend of Saemidori and Tsuyuhikari cultivars, the leaves are carefully processed and stone-milled into a fine, vivid emerald powder.

In the cup, the matcha is smooth and creamy with a rounded mouthfeel. Notes of buttery umami unfold gently, balanced by a natural, understated sweetness and a clean, lingering finish. The flavor is calm, focused, and refined — ideal for slow, intentional sipping.

Ceremonial-grade matcha is defined by how it is grown and how it is meant to be enjoyed. The plants are shade-grown prior to harvest to increase amino acids and soften bitterness, and only the youngest leaves are selected before milling. This produces a matcha designed to be prepared traditionally with water, allowing its texture, sweetness, and umami to be fully experienced without the need for milk or flavoring.
